Relatives of a man killed when his car crashed into a tree have been left "devastated" after a roadside memorial was damaged, Lincolnshire Police said.

Sean Taylor, 36, from Grimsby, died when he crashed off the A16 near Ludborough on 21 September.

A police spokesperson said a cross left at the scene by his family and friends had been removed while flowers and other items had been damaged.

It is believed the incident happened between 26 and 28 November.

Speaking on behalf Mr Taylor's family a force spokesperson said "We are all struggling to find the right words.

"This is so terribly sad and I cannot understand why anyone would do this. Sean's children and family are truly devastated."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
