Abnormal load to be escorted through Surrey
- Published
An abnormal load consisting of an MRI machine and a CT scanner for a community hospital development will be escorted through Surrey on Saturday.
Surrey Police said that the units, heading to Woking Community Hospital, require a police escort due to their extended widths.
The force said it aims to keep traffic disruption to a minimum but people are being advised to leave extra time for their journeys.
Some temporary localised disruption, particularly around the hospital, is expected in the early afternoon.
The loads will be escorted by Surrey Police from a holding location at around 09:00 GMT, exiting the M3 at junction four and proceeding along the A331, A31 and A3, before coming off at Ripley and heading south on the A3.
From the A3 they will join the A320 and travel to their final destination of Woking Community Hospital.
The Woking one-way system will be temporarily held in order to manoeuvre the loads safely through the town.
Emergency services will still be able to access the site as required.
The hospital has made alternative parking arrangements for patients and visitors who need to access the site during the day.
