Major road still shut for repairs after oil spill

A diversion is in place on the A37 near Chelwood
- Published
A main road will remain closed into the weekend to fix "extensive" damage caused by a spill from an oil tanker, a council has confirmed.
The A37 is shut near Chelwood in Somerset, between the junction with the B3130 and the turn off for Birchwood Lane, for emergency repairs according to Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Avon and Somerset Police said the spillage, which happened at about 08:00 BST on Thursday, also led to a three-vehicle collision.
Drivers have been told to follow the official diversion and avoid using narrow country lanes in the area.
