An event is set to be held to mark the 150th anniversary of the first successful swim across the English Channel.
Captain Matthew Webb arrived in France at the end of his milestone 22-hour Channel swim on 25 August 1875 and become the first person to complete the feat.
The Port of Dover, Dover District Council and Dover Town Council are hosting events along the waterfront on Monday to celebrate the anniversary.
The Port of Dover said: "Captain Webb's accomplishment set a pathway for an inspiring future of Channel swimming, which today has seen over 4,000 successfully completed missions."
The event, which will include open water swims and live music, will start at 10:00 BST and end at 18:00.
Diederik Smet, placemaking, events and partnerships manager at the Port of Dover, said: "We are delighted to be home to some brilliant swimming and sports organisations today, which empower many generations to follow in the footsteps of icons like Captain Webb."
