A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of driving a stolen car into a lamppost during a police pursuit.

Humberside Police said officers on Warne Road in Hull on Sunday night spotted a car which had been reported stolen from Anlaby earlier in the evening and gave chase after the driver failed to stop.

The car then crashed into a lamppost near Holwell Road, when the occupants of the car fled before being chased on foot by officers and arrested.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Hull Magistrates' Court earlier charged with burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without a licence or insurance.
