A non-league football team that recorded its best ever performance in the FA Cup is still celebrating.

Hampshire side Tadley Calleva FC beat Weymouth, who play two leagues above them, 4-2 to reach the second qualifying round of the world's oldest football competition on Saturday.

The Combined Counties Premier League Division South side will next play either Bracknell Town or Dartford, who will face each other on Tuesday again after they drew 2-2 at the weekend.

Joe Lawler, Tadley Calleva's manager, said the victory remained "a bit surreal" after it was broadcast from the club's Barlow's Park live onto the BBC's red button.

"It's great for the club. I think it's been coming for the last few years," he said.

"The club has been working tirelessly on and off the pitch to make sure that we can perform as well as we can and [the club has] been great."

The Romans - as the club is known in recognition of the heritage of Calleva Atrebatum, just outside Silchester - were watched by a crowd of about 550, far more than its normal gate.

Lawler told BBC Radio Berkshire that there were some "sore heads" following celebrations after Saturday's win.

"The clubhouse was pretty loud after, which was great. That's what it's all about. We want to make sure we celebrate our wins when we can and it was a great day," he added.

"We are just pleased to be where we are [in the cup]. We're pleased to be in the hat and we will take it game by game. We have got a league game next Saturday so a lot of my focus has turned to that.

"But it's really exciting to the club. I am just trying to get as many eyes on the club as possible."
