A man has been arrested after shots were fired on a residential street in South Yorkshire.
Officers were called to Broom Road in Rotherham at about 16:45 BST on Thursday after reports of gunshots being fired in the area.
Nobody was injured during the incident, South Yorkshire Police said, but some damage was caused to a property.
The force confirmed a 33-year-old man was in custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm, with a cordon in place on the street to allow for investigation work.
Det Ch Insp Samuel Blakemore said the force believed other people were involved in the incident, with efforts taking place to identify them.
"It is extremely fortunate no one was injured," he said.
"It happened in a residential street in daylight hours and completely innocent members of the community could quite easily have come to harm."
