A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife and her son at their home in an Essex village.

Maria Nugara, 54, and Giuseppe Morreale, 29, were found dead in Cambridge Road, Ugley, near Bishop's Stortford, on 28 May.

Calogero Ricotta, 63, pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and a count of causing actual bodily harm at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Mr Ricotta stood in the dock with an interpreter but answered in English to say "not guilty".
