A man is on the run after he fled from a stolen car which had caught on fire.

Hertfordshire Police said a Ford Mondeo car was stolen from Telford Road in London Colney at about 17:40 BST, but was abandoned on the A405, just before the M1, after catching fire.

The man threatened several drivers before moving away into the undergrowth where officers with dogs and a supporting police helicopter could not find him.

He is described as white, in his 20s, of slim build, and wearing a dark coloured hoodie and shorts.

Police has appealed for people with information or dash cam footage to contact the force.
