A 19-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed at a McDonald's.
Officers were called to the restaurant in Chaul End Lane, Luton, at about 23:40 BST on Monday.
Four people were arrested, police said, and three have been released with no further action. One man, aged 18, remains in custody.
The victim is in hospital in a stable condition, Bedfordshire Police said.
Det Insp Louise Gent from Bedfordshire Police said there was no tolerance "for such levels of violence in a public setting where many young families will have set out to have a peaceful meal together".
She added: “We understand this was very traumatic and have progressed several lines of enquiry to find the person responsible.
"We would encourage anyone who has information that could assist us or who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact us."
