Emission levels at phone masts safe, survey finds

Jersey's phone masts give out a safe level of emissions, according to an independent safety audit.
The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA), which commissioned the audit, external, said the 19 sites tested were "well below" international safety limits.
The tests were carried out by Freshwave in September on masts from all of the island's mobile phone operators, including eight that had not been tested before.
Robin Hogge, JCRA's technical case officer, said the audit demonstrated the work done to make sure the island's telecoms sector was "safe and well regulated".
JCRA said the two sites with the highest emissions, Sand Street and Kensington Place car parks, were tested during the Jersey International Air Display, which caused increased usage.
Mr Hogge said next year's audit would be the first to test the island's planned 5G masts.
