A hospice that cares for people with life limiting conditions is offering the opportunity to dedicate a light in memory of those who have died.

The annual Lights of Love campaign at Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, is running until 3 January.

In return for a donation, lights alongside the names of loved ones will be displayed on 25ft (7.6m) Christmas trees in both Bromsgrove and Redditch.

Each light "represents a life loved and will remain lit throughout the festive period," a hospice spokesperson said.

A Lights of Love celebration, featuring live music from a choir and readings from staff and families, will be held at the hospice from 15:00 to 16:30 GMT on Saturday.

Campaign organiser Kelly Wetherall explained grief had "no time length," and one person had been dedicating a light to the campaign for the past 17 years.

"We facilitate them to remember their loved ones at Christmas," she said.

"You can't buy them a present anymore but this is something really tangible you can do."

Each dedication will also appear on an online memorial page, creating a collective tribute to people who have died.

Dedications for the campaign are being accepted until 16 December, Ms Wetherall added.
