Driver dies after multi-vehicle crash on M74

A 65-year-old man has died after his car collided with several vehicles before hitting the central reservation on the M74 in Glasgow.

The man was driving a Porsche Boxster on the southbound carriageway at about 18:00 on Sunday when the incident happened at junction 2 near Rutherglen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 45-year-old woman who was driving a Nissan Leaf and 42-year-old woman who was driving a BMW 2 series were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The motorway was closed in both directions after the incident. It fully reopened at 04:30 on Monday.

Sgt Adnan Alam said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this difficult time.

"We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not already spoken to police.

"We would also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage to please check this as they may have captured the crash or just prior to it taking place."
