A man has suffered serious head and facial injuries after he was attacked in Cornwall, police have said.
Officers said it was believed the attack took place between 02:30 and 03:00 BST on Thursday at The Moor in Falmouth.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the injured man recalled being attacked by "a group of people".
He was taken to hospital where he remains, police said.
Det Sgt Alex Fisher said: "The victim does not have much recollection of the incident but remembers there was a group of people who he believes assaulted him.
"We are aware that someone or more than one person may have stopped to assist the victim at the scene and would ask that they make themselves known to us.
"They may have vital information that would help with our inquiries."
