A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist died in a three-vehicle crash in North Yorkshire.

It happened on the B1248 between Wharram-le-Street and North Grimston, near Malton, at about 11:50 BST on Sunday and involved a black Suzuki motorcycle, a red BMW and a grey Kia Sportage.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 73-year-old man from Cleveland, died at the scene while the occupants of the other vehicles did not sustain any injuries, North Yorkshire Police said.

The driver of the BMW, a 43-year-old man from East Yorkshire, was arrested at the scene and later released under investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision or the vehicles prior to the incident to come forward.

According to police, the motorcycle was travelling towards Malton at the time while the two cars were heading in the opposite direction.
