The new £80m Perth High School has been closed for a third day on Wednesday because of a continued power failure.

Pupils at the school, which opened on 21 August, were sent home on Monday after an outage was reported.

Perth and Kinross Council said at the time that the school would reopen as normal on Tuesday.

But it later issued an update saying there had been a recurrence of the fault - and the council has now confirmed the school will remain closed until Thursday while repair work is carried out.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), which supplies power to the complex, carried out investigations and established the supply was working as normal.

The BBC understands the problem is related to a fault in the school's internal network.

A council statement said: "Engineers were back on site today and we are working to identify and repair the issue as quickly as possible.

"Unfortunately, these repairs are not yet complete and so the school will have to remain closed on Wednesday.

"Remote learning will be in place for pupils and we thank everyone for their patience while we work to resolve these issues."

Construction work on the school began in February 2023 and was completed earlier this year.
