Listed warehouse could house medical practice

In front of the building, a cobblestone street runs along the edge, where several cars are parked. One white car has its boot open and a person is standing beside it. The sky is overcast. Adjacent to the main building, another similar stone structure is visible on the right.Image source, LDRS

Empty space in a Victorian warehouse will be converted into a medical practice, if plans are approved.

The proposals would see part of the ground floor and basement of 20-22 Mill Street, opposite a Travelodge Hotel, converted into a private medical practice.

A planning application submitted to Bradford Council said the development would preserve "the special interest of the listed building while delivering a valuable community facility".

A decision is expected in November.

The Grade II listed building dates back to the 1870s and was designed by acclaimed architects Milnes and France, the Local Democracy Service reports.

The space was most recently used as a café. The upper floors are in residential use.

Under the plans, consultation rooms, a reception and waiting areas would be created, along with a staff room.

The application, submitted by Mill Street Asset Management Limited, said: "The proposal brings vacant listed building floorspace into beneficial medical use with minimal, reversible alterations.

"The scheme preserves the special interest of the listed building while delivering a valuable community facility."
