Two people were rescued after a car left the road in Scunthorpe and ended up on its roof in a water-filled ditch.

Humberside Police said the crash happened on Brumby Common Lane in the early hours, with the pair reportedly trapped as the vehicle began to slowly fill with water.

The force praised the person who rang them – who was in the car – and the call handler's "calm professionalism".

No injuries were reported, a spokesperson added.
