Punk rock gig to raise money for women's refuge

The live music line up includes German punk rock band Bullshit Boy

A music event is being held at a pub in Wolverhampton to help raise money for a women's refuge.

The She Bangs the Drum gig will see a line up of punk rock bands at the New Hampton Pub on Friday 25 April to generate funds for The Haven Wolverhampton.

Wolves Music United, which organises events and workshops among other activities, said it had put on the gig to empower women and to highlight the importance of speaking out against domestic violence.

The live music line up includes German punk rock band Bullshit Boy, post-punk band Tantrum Zentrum, and local artist Laura Alice Brazier from No Business.

Kerry Worton, founder of Wolves Music United, will also perform with her band, delivering a unique "Black Country rock" sound that reflects her West Midlands roots.

People attending the event are being encouraged to bring toiletries and feminine products to donate to those escaping domestic abuse.

Organisers said the event aims to raise awareness about the support available for those affected, using the power of music to amplify the message.

Tickets are available online for £8 or will be available on the door for £10.
