Football fan scoops £1m after predicting six scores
A football fan has won £1m after correctly guessing the scores in six weekend Premier League games.
Tom Kane, from Southampton, was waiting on Liverpool's 3-0 success over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday to complete his Sky Sports Super 6 predictions.
Following the match, the Super Six page posted on X appealing to Mr Kane to "keep your mobile phone handy - you're about to receive the phone call of a lifetime".
His predictions included Bournemouth, who had trailed Everton by 2-0 with just minutes remaining, beating the Toffees 3-2.
Blue pigeon mystifies town's residents
Several sightings of a blue pigeon wandering around a town's streets have baffled residents.
The bird has been photographed by a number of people in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Some locals insisted the bird's unique plumage looked natural.
But wildlife experts suggested it could have been dyed for a gender-reveal party - a tradition where expectant couples learn the sex of their baby using pink or blue items.
Museum to host naked night for naturists
A museum is hosting a special private viewing for naturists.
Visitors to Dorset Museum will be able to wander through its galleries naked at the evening event on 17 September.
The ticket price includes a glass of wine, changing facilities and a locker for clothes, according to organiser British Naturism.
The organisation said it was "an amazing opportunity to enjoy a private viewing of the museum - naked".
Council considers closing six schools
A council has said it may close six primary schools in an attempt to improve "extremely poor" results in comparison to other areas.
Isle of Wight Council announced it is considering a recommendation to close Cowes, Arreton, Oakfield, Brading, Wroxall and Godshill primary schools.
The authority is being consulted on the potential closures - which if approved would not happen before September 2025.
A council spokesperson said a falling birth rate had left nearly 1,900 unfilled places in mainstream schools as of October 2023, putting financial pressure on the authority.

The video, which describes the B&B as "giving zen" and "very demure", has since been viewed 9.4m times.
The mother and daughter team behind the video said they had been "amazed" by the response to the video.
