Parts of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary have been evacuated following a fire.

NHS Grampian said an electrical fire broke out underneath a corridor.

There were no injuries and the fire has been put out.

The health board told BBC Scotland News the area evacuated was mainly office accommodation and clinic space.

The incident was said to be having a knock-on effect on laboratories as there was some loss of power.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 13:30 on Wednesday to reports of a smell of burning at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

"Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene, where firefighters were met by a fire within the building's basement.

"Crews have since extinguished the fire but two appliances remain in place working to make the area safe. There are no reported casualties."
