Person in serious condition after assault near pub

A person is in hospital in a serious but stable condition after a serious early-morning assault in Bristol.
Avon and Somerset Police was called to the scene near The Criterion pub in Ashley Road, Bristol, by the ambulance service at about 05:30 GMT after a man was assaulted.
A cordon is in place while police carry out enquiries.
A police spokesperson asked anyone who was in the area at about 05:00 BST and saw anything suspicious or has relevant footage to get in touch.
They added that members of the public will see a "heightened police presence" in the area and encouraged anyone with concerns to speak to their neighbourhood policing team.
