The first of three consecutive supermoons of 2025 appeared in UK skies on Tuesday night.

October's full supermoon, also known as the Hunter's Moon rose at about 18:20 GMT on 7 October.

It was predicted to be the largest and brightest full Moon of the year so far and the first supermoon since November 2024.

This year we will also see the Harvest Moon, the name name given to the full Moon closest to the autumn equinox.

This means it can fall any time between September and October.

The Harvest Moon is perhaps the most well-known one of the year, thanks in part to the 1992 hit song 'Harvest Moon' by Neil Young.

Although visibility was often obscured in East Yorkshire, there will be other chances to spot it as the supermoon will be visible for the next two nights.

Keen weather watchers have already spotted some stunning lunar displays on both Monday and Tuesday.
