Two murder arrests after man dies on street

Two people have been held on suspicion of murder after the death of man in a Lancashire town.

Police said they saw paramedics trying to resuscitate him while they were on patrol in Newchurch Road, Bacup at about 00:35 GMT.

However the victim, in his 30s, died at the scene.

A 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman from the town have since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.

Police said they were treating it as an isolated incident and a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of the man's death was due to take place.

Det Con Insp Bryony Midgley from Lancashire Police, appealed for information from the public and said "although two people have been arrested, our enquiries are very much ongoing".
