Plans have been submitted to repair the roof of a library and install solar panels on it.

Evesham Library on Oat Street was built in 1988 and needs roof repairs to prevent water damage.

Worcestershire County Council submitted the plans and said it would not change the overall character of the library.

A spokesperson for the authority added: "The county council undertakes work to maintain the integrity of buildings across the corporate estate".

Solar panels have been installed on several publicly owned buildings in the county in recent years including St Martin's Gate multi-storey car park and the roof of Perdiswell Leisure Centre.
