Wolves fans have suggested the only surprise over the sacking of head coach Vitor Pereira was that it did not come sooner.

Sunday's dismissal came less than 24 hours after Wolves suffered a 3-0 defeat at Fulham, continuing the club's disastrous start to the Premier League season.

The results have left the club bottom of the table and still searching for its first league win.

Travelling supporters expressed their anger towards Pereira and the club's Chinese ownership and fans outside Wolves' Molineux Stadium on Sunday were not shocked by the morning's developments.

Anna-Maria Mcauliffe said she thought the sacking would have come sooner after Wolves' 3-2 defeat at home to Burnley last week.

"[With] the team he picked and the way he performed [on Saturday against Fulham] it was no surprise at all," she said.

Fellow fan Trevor Taylor added it was "obvious" it was going to happen.

"I'm surprised they gave him as long as they did because the performances just weren't there," he said.

Adam Hyde added: "If you look back at last season's results, at the end it's the same as Gary O'Neil. I think it was inevitable. He's not getting results [and] I think that's football."

Dave Milton, the Always Wolves TV podcaster best known as Dazzling Dave, said he believed the ownership had made the right decision.

"Everyone really likes Vitor Pereira," he explained. "He did a great job when he came in [and] bonded with the fans really well.

"We had the 'first the points then the pints' but unfortunately it was time for last orders. It couldn't go on any longer."

Pereira drew the ire of fans after Wolves' 3-2 home defeat to Burnley

Despite signing a contract extension less than two months ago, Pereira's position had become increasingly untenable.

The defeat at Craven Cottage marked the tenth game without a win, leaving Wolves as the only team across England's top seven tiers yet to register a league victory.

The club now faces a daunting challenge to avoid relegation with no team ever surviving in the Premier League after such a start.
