Businesses are being warned about fake money being used in Ross-on-Wye.

West Mercia Police said a group of people had used counterfeit Scottish £20 and £50 notes to purchase small items.

Shops are being encouraged to check the quality of a note by scratching them with a pen lid or sharp nail, as the ink will come off on counterfeit notes.

PC Daryl Kift said the group was maximising the change they got in return when using the fake notes.
