Man dies after medical incident at bathing pool

A 71-year-old man has died following a medical incident at an outdoor bathing pool in Guernsey.

The man was given treatment by paramedics at the side of the gents bathing pools at La Vallette, in St Peter Port, before being taken to hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

The road from the bottom of the Val des Terres to the bathing pools was closed for several hours until 16:30 BST.

Guernsey Police said: "All three emergency services responded to reports of a medical incident at the men's pool of the bathing pools. Sadly, the man died shortly after arriving at hospital."

It continued: "Officers have been liaising with his family this evening, and we would like to express our condolences to them at this very difficult time."
