Driver killed and passenger injured in crash

Cambridgeshire Police closed the A10 following Friday's collision

A man died and another person was seriously injured in a crash involving four vehicles.

It happened on the A10, between Stretham and Chittering in Cambridgeshire, at about 07:10 BST on Friday.

Police said the crash involved a Seat, a Jaguar, a Mini and a lorry. The driver of the Mini, a 53-year-old man from Littleport, Ely, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in the car was seriously injured and remained in hospital.

Adam Bates, 23, of Juniper Drive, Chatteris, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

He appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court on Saturday and is expected to appear at Cambridge Crown Court at a future date.

Cambridgeshire Police has appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
