Two people have been arrested after a man was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds.

Dorset Police received reports of an assault at 16:54 BST on Tuesday at an address in Stourcastle in Sturminster Newton.

The victim's injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening.

Officers have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and a 53-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder - both suspects are from Sturminster Newton.

It was also reported that a woman had been assaulted at the address, but had not sustained any serious injuries.

Det Insp Darren Stanton, of Dorset Police, said: "We are continuing to conduct detailed enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

"There will be increased police activity in the area as our investigation continues and we would encourage anyone with any information or concerns to please speak with an officer."
