A man has appeared in court after being charged in connection with a house explosion in Derby.

Three houses were damaged and one man was taken to hospital after the blast in Eden Street on 10 June.

Paul Solway, of no fixed abode, has been charged with causing an explosion likely to endanger life, as well as one count of rape.

The 58-year-old attended Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance, which is set for 5 August.
