A 101-year-old Nottingham Forest fan has said she is "ever so excited" as she prepares to go to her first match at the City Ground in 30 years.

Marjorie Graves, from Bulwell in Nottingham, has been a Reds supporter since she was eight and has followed but not been able to get to a game for a long time.

However, the club has stepped in to offer her the "red carpet treatment" and tickets to see the clash against East Midlands rivals Leicester City on 11 May.

Marjorie, known as Marj, said she planned to take fellow Forest supporters, who worked at the care home where she lived, along with her to the game.

"I've been a Forest fan for 93 years. I went to my first game with my father and my brother in 1931," she said.

"I've not been able to go recently, but I listen to Forest either on the television or the radio and I try to catch them every time.

"I'm so excited [to be going]. I love the crowd when they sing Mull of Kintyre.

"That's my favourite."

The club has promised Marjorie a special day

Marjorie told the BBC she did not think she had ever seen Forest, who are third in the Premier League and have reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup, play so well.

"They are brilliant," she added.

"I wouldn't want to pick my favourite player because they are all doing so well."

The club stepped in after staff at the Fairway View Care Home, where she lives, posted on social media about what a dedicated supporter Marjorie had been.

A spokesperson for the club said: "We're delighted that Marj is joining us for the Leicester City match 93 years on from her first visit to the City Ground.

"The Forest Family is incredibly important to us.

"We hope that Marj has a wonderful time, and we will do all we can to ensure it's a day that will live long in her memory.

"We cannot wait to welcome Marj. She will truly be our VIP for the day, and we have plenty planned for her."
