Neon yellow dye is to be put in a lido to help check for leaks which need repairing.

A non-toxic and biodegradable dye called Fluorescein is set to be used by workmen at Tinside Lido, which overlooks Plymouth Sound, to identify any seepage at the Grade II-listed structure.

Plymouth City Council said an initial survey would take place later before a contractor carried out a detailed survey of the drainage chambers on 23 October to "enable the iconic lido to be used for years to come".

The authority said the dye was approved use in marine environments and would dissipate within a few hours.
