Woman in her 40s dies in crash outside Ballymena

A woman who died following a single-vehicle collision on the Cushendall Road near Ballymena has been named by police.

She was Eileen Thornton, 44, from the Broughshane area.

It happened at about 20:05 BST on Tuesday.

Ms Thornton was driving a black Peugeot car and died in hospital a short time after the collision.

Inspector Cherith Adair said the PSNI's thoughts were with her family.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
