Armed police were called to a park in Leicester after an attack by two loose dogs.

Police were called to Westcotes Gardens off Upperton Road at about 17:10 BST on Saturday after reports the two dogs had attacked another dog.

Armed officers were sent "in the interests of public safety", said Leicestershire Police.

The two dogs were "contained by officers" and taken from the scene, while the injured dog was taken to the vets by its owner, added the force.

No arrests had been made, said police, and investigations were ongoing.
