Bonfire Night dispersal order issued for town

Police will have additional powers to order people to leave Beeston town centre or escort them home

A dispersal order has been put in place in a bid to prevent "dangerous and anti-social behaviour" in Beeston during Bonfire Night.
Nottinghamshire Police said the order would be in effect throughout Wednesday, giving police temporary powers to direct people to leave the area.
The force said the decision came after concerns were raised about "anti-social behaviour by young people" during the Halloween weekend.
Sgt Simon Boyles said officers would - if necessary - escort young people home to their parents.
He said: "Whilst most young people will enjoy Bonfire Night in a safe and responsible way, we know from experience that there will be others who use the occasion as an excuse to behave in an antisocial and dangerous manner.
"Those people are on notice that if we catch them behaving in this way, they will, at the very least, be ordered to leave the town centre.
"They may also find themselves being taken home by a police officer and having to explain their behaviour to their parents."
A number of dispersal orders were imposed across Nottingham during the Halloween weekend.
The force said it was deployed additional police resources across Nottingham for Bonfire Night, after disorder broke out in the city in 2024.
