Weather warning issued over heavy rain forecast

Residents are being warned of disruption to travel across Essex

Forecasters have warned of "persistent and heavy" rain expected to fall across Essex.

The Met Office said a yellow weather warning, external would be in place from 22:00 GMT on Tuesday until 12:00 on Wednesday.

Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock were forecast to feel the strongest impact of rainfall that could reach 30-40mm in some areas.

Residents have been warned disruption to travel and infrastructure was likely during the inclement weather.
