First shop for cookie business started in kitchen

Sally Rees said opening a cookie shop is a "dream come true"

A couple who launched a cookie business off the back of a fundraising effort led by their children have opened their first shop.

Sally and Giles Rees started Wicked Cookies from their kitchen in 2016 after helping their children, Bailey and Zac, fundraise for a trip to Disneyland.

Eight years later, the business produces about 100,000 cookies a year from their Nuneaton warehouse and supplies brands such as Warner Bros.

On Saturday, the company launched its first magic-themed shop in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, called Snickerwoodles, after one of their most popular products.

Mrs Rees said it was a "dream come true", to be opening their first shop.

"We are very much strong believers that life should be more magical," she said.

Sally Rees said some people may think their magic-themed shop is "bonkers"

"I would never have thought when Bailey and Zac said that very first day we're going to go and sell cookies around the neighbours that eight years on we would be doing this," she added.

"Is like a dream come true.

"We have worked our absolute socks off and every year we think it would be easy and it's not and there's always challenges, but you've got to get through the challenges and you've got to stay positive."
