Motorcyclist dies in A1(M) crash with HGV

The A1 was closed in both directions between junctions 35 and 34

A motorcyclist has died following a collision with an HGV on the A1(M) in South Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash between junction 35 for Doncaster and junction 34 for Blyth at about 05:45 BST.

The 55-year-old rider of a red Kawasaki motorbike was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but later died from his injuries, a spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said.

The road was initially closed in both directions, but reopened at about 11:40 BST.

Police have appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to get in touch.
