A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager suffered serious injuries to his face and neck in an attack.

The 13-year-old victim was assaulted in an alley close to Gino’s takeaway in Anlaby, near Hull, at about 20:40 GMT on Sunday, police said.

Humberside Police said the younger boy was walking with friends when he was approached by two teenage boys and two teenage girls and struck with a glass bong.

The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and remains in police custody, a spokesperson said.

Det Insp Andy Crawforth said: "This is an awful set of circumstances that have left a young boy with serious injuries.

"I would like to offer reassurances that my team are conducting several lines of inquiry since the incident occurred to identify those involved."

He added that officers were looking at CCTV footage and urged anyone with information to contact the force.
