The man believed to be the oldest in Warwickshire has celebrated his 111th birthday with the help of an Abba tribute act.

The performance for John Farringdon was part of a birthday party at Cubbington Mill Care Home.

Supercentenarian Mr Farringdon also marked the occasion with a visit from his family and local school children, and a lunchtime barbecue.

"I'm 111 today, nobody believes it," he said. "I can't see it makes much difference, there's not much difference between that and 110."

"I didn't even know about this, I didn't know what was going on out there," Mr Farringdon said about his birthday party.

The former Ford worker, who was born a year after the Titanic sank, once met Rishi Sunak, who he met in parliament last year and described him as "really pleasant to meet".

Laura Russell, care home manager, said Mr Farringdon had "brilliant sense of humour," and was "very witty" and "not scared at all to say what he thinks."

"We've got lots going on here today, it's been an active morning already and he's having a wonderful time," she said at the party.

The 111-year-old was "very stubborn" but overall he was "lovely," "kind" and "we love him dearly," she added.

"Everybody loves John and again it's brilliant to spend another day like this."
