Three men have been arrested after police followed a stolen van that had failed to stop.

Officers spotted the Ford Transit van in Blackbird Road, Leicester, at 01:45 GMT on Tuesday and began a "controlled pursuit" through the city when it did not stop.

Three men then ran from the van after it stopped in Thurmaston but were arrested with the help of the drone team and the dog unit.

Leicestershire Police said the trio, aged 38, 45 and 56, were held on suspicion of the theft of a motor vehicle.

The 38-year-old suspect was also arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and driving over the prescribed limit of controlled drugs.

They have all since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
