A car was stolen at gunpoint from a pub car park by two masked men in a "terrifying" car-jacking.

Two men and a woman were in a grey Audi S3, which was reversing when one of the offenders opened the door, and the second pointed the gun inside.

The woman left the car, but the driver and other passenger were "dragged out" of it at The Huntsman in Cheadle at about 01:40 GMT police said.

Nobody was hurt, but all three, who are in their 20s and from Stafford, were said to have been left shaken by the ordeal.

A light grey or white Ford Transit van followed the stolen Audi "at speed" from the car park towards Blythe Bridge or Draycott, said police.

A helicopter was used in a search of the suspects, who were described as having Irish accents.

“This was a brazen and terrifying car-jacking," said Det Con Anna Plant.

Anyone with information or footage that could help the investigation was urged to contact Staffordshire Police.
