A woman has been arrested after a man was killed when a car hit two pedestrians.

Ambulance crews called to the junction of Boldmere Road and Redacre Road in Sutton Coldfield found a male pedestrian receiving life support from the fire service.

"Sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene," a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

Police said the driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

The second pedestrian, also a man, was treated by ambulance staff for minor injuries.

West Midlands Police is appealing to any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.
