A timeline of key events has been announced by the States in anticipation of the Royal visit to Guernsey next week.

The island will take the baton from Jersey in playing host to King Charles III and Queen Camilla when they arrive on the island late Tuesday morning.

The day is set to begin with the Royal couple taking part in a special short States sitting to be held outside at St Peter Port seafront., external

This will be followed by a Ceremony of Homage, a tradition that has historically been observed when a monarch first visits Guernsey.

Announcing details of the visit, the States of Guernsey said Their Majesties would then go to the end of the Crown Pier to unveil a plaque commemorating the historic visit.

The King and Queen would also be invited to walk down Crown Pier where a series of demonstrations and stalls would showcase Guernsey's unique cultural heritage, the States said.

They will be treated to a showcase of local products, as well as learning about environmental initiatives - a subject close to the King's heart.

Their Majesties will also be invited to meet crew members of RNLI lifeboats and the St John's marine ambulance.

In the afternoon, the King and Queen will be taken on a planned route by car to attend an event with Alderney and Sark delegations at Les Cotils.

Activities for the public will begin in St Peter Port seafront at 10:00 BST, with big screens set up to live stream moments from the big day.

Elsewhere Cambridge Park will also screen the day's events, with people encouraged to bring picnics and blankets and watch along from 10:00 to 16:00.

The visit on 15 July will be the first time a British monarch has visited the Channel Islands since 2005, when Queen Elizabeth II came to Jersey and Guernsey.
