Drunk driver who seriously injured woman jailed

A drunk driver who left an elderly woman with life-changing injuries after ramming a car in which she was travelling has been jailed.
Kevin Turner, 65, failed to give way on a roundabout on Pershore Road, Evesham, on 9 April 2022.
An elderly male driver was also injured after his car, which was already crossing the roundabout, was hit by Turner's vehicle "at speed and with force," police said.
Turner was given 32 months in prison for causing serious injury at Worcester Crown Court.
He was also given a four-month sentence, to run concurrently, for drink driving.
In addition, the court banned Turner, of Berrington Road, Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire, from driving for 52 months, after which he will have to retake his test.
PC Paul Bosley from West Mercia Police said Turner initially refused to accept responsibility and showed no remorse until he entered a guilty plea in February.
“His poor driving and driving while intoxicated caused this crash and have unfortunately had a major and lasting impact on the innocent victims," the officer said.
“These are the people that must continue living this nightmare daily and I am glad the criminal justice system has recognised this," he added.
