Police have issued warnings to drivers who attended a car meet on Saturday.

A dispersal order was issued for the whole of Cambridgeshire after police received information a planned car meet was going to take place in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Police moved on 150 cars which had gathered in the Serpentine Green car park in Hampton, Peterborough.

Two section 59 warnings were issued to drivers of vehicles that had been used in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance, police said.

Insp Connor Hall, from Peterborough's Neighbourhood Policing Team, said that car meets and anti-social behaviour was an "ongoing priority" for police.

A dispersal order was put in place from 17:00 GMT on Saturday to 07:00 on Sunday.

The dispersal order, under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, grants an officer to direct a person to leave an area if there are reasonable grounds to suspect their behaviour has, or could contribute to members of the public feeling harassed, alarmed and distressed.

Police issued two section 59 warnings under the Police Reform Act 2002.

A warning of this kind is issued on both the driver and the vehicle, meaning if either are found to be involved in anti-social behaviour again, the vehicle can be seized.

Insp Hall said: "Car meets and the associated anti-social behaviour is an ongoing priority for our southern Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team and is something that we will continue to work at tackling."
