Rail disruption between Birmingham and London
- Published
A train has broken down in the West Midlands causing cancellations and major disruption between Birmingham and London.
It happened between Banbury and Leamington Spa resulting in a blocked route, Chiltern Railways has said.
Passengers have been urged not to travel as limited alternative routes are available due to engineering works and lack of replacement buses.
There are currently no services operating between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone with significant delays and cancellations expected from the capital city into the Midlands.
Chiltern Railways also warned commuters of engineering works taking place on another rail network and trains being busier than usual due to the Solihull Moors match at Wembley Stadium.
From Monday, rail and tram passengers also face a week of disruption due to industrial action.
Members of the train drivers' union Aslef at 16 operators will launch a six-day ban on overtime which is expected to cause short-notice cancellations.
They will also stage three, one-day strikes across different operators between 7 May 9 May, as part of a long running dispute over pay.
