A man has died after the motorbike he was riding crashed into the central reservation of the M40.

The collision happened at 08:55 BST on Friday between junctions four for High Wycombe and five for Stokenchurch.

Thames Valley Police said a 69-year-old man died at the scene.

The southbound carriageway has reopened but parts of the northbound section would remain closed "until later this afternoon", police said.

Det Ch Insp Mike Bettington, of the Roads Policing Department, said: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones and everyone else involved in dealing with this road traffic collision.

"At this time this collision is not being treated as suspicious, but I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward."
