Man charged with kidnap of teenager appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with the kidnap of a teenage boy.

Derbyshire Police said a man allegedly grabbed a boy on the Nutbrook Trail in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, just before 08:00 BST on Wednesday,

A 39-year-old suspect was arrested in Stanton Road in Ilkeston on Thursday at about 10:00 - after further patrols were put in place - and later charged with attempted kidnap.

The force said he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Friday, where he was remanded to prison and ordered to appear at the same court on 8 August.

Police said the boy involved in the incident on Wednesday was not hurt and was taken home safely by his father.
